Business Planning and Day to Day Management

To help you run your micro-provider service, we’ve put together a set of simple business tools. You can use all of them or just the ones that are helpful to you.

Business Planning

The business plan template helps you set out your ideas and think about your micro-business as a whole. It covers what you offer, who you support, how you’ll work, and what you want to achieve.

Cash Flow

The cash flow forecast helps you work out how many hours you need to work to earn the income you want. You can also list your expenses and see, month by month, how your money is coming in and going out.

Mileage

The mileage sheet lets you record your business travel so you can see if your travel distances are working for you. It can help you decide whether to expand or reduce your area and can also be used to calculate mileage for your tax return.

Marketing

The simple marketing plan helps you decide what activities you’ll use to attract customers, when you’ll do them, and how you’ll review what’s working and what isn’t.

Managing your finances

You’ll find a blank invoice template and a recording sheet to track who you’ve invoiced, when invoices were sent, and when payments are received.

There’s also a sheet to record other business spending, helping you keep track of costs against your income each month.

Online Systems

There are online systems that can manage your finances for you, including recording income and expenses and creating invoices. These can be useful if you’re confident using IT, but they usually cost money. Well-known options include Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. There are also apps that can help with planning and invoicing.
