Overview
Safeguarding adults is everyone’s responsibility — even in the smallest businesses.
This session is designed specifically for sole traders, SMEs and micro providers living in and/or delivering support in Staffordshire, including those signed up to the Staffordshire Micro Provider Network – Local Help My Way.
Working independently means you are often the first to notice when something isn’t right. This practical session will give you the confidence to recognise concerns early, respond safely and respectfully, and understand exactly how and when to report safeguarding issues.
You will explore what abuse looks like in its different forms, understand the risks faced by vulnerable adults and how to lower those risks within your service, and gain clarity on acting quickly and appropriately to keep adults safe — while also protecting yourself professionally.
This is practical, clear and confidence-building safeguarding tailored specifically for micro providers.
What You’ll Gain

- Understand the legislation relevant to adult safeguarding
- Identify risks associated with vulnerable adults and how to reduce them
- Explain the 10 types of abuse
- Recognise signs and symptoms of different forms of abuse
- Respond appropriately to a disclosure of abuse
- Follow correct referral and reporting procedures
